Joseph Schwantner is the New England Conservatory Malcolm Peyton Composer Artist-in-Residence this year for BMOP's annual portrait concert, which features the Schwantner’s Percussion Concerto #2: Concerto for Percussion Section and Orchestra. Concerto competition winner violinist Ilana Zaks performs Schwantner's Angelfire. This year's BMOP-NEC Composition Competition winner is Lavell Blackwell, whose piece Effleurage will open the concert, while Schwantner's Aftertones of Infinity closes the evening.
